We only sell Bourbon Red Turkeys, which are one of the best breeds of Heritage Turkeys. Heritage Turkeys are very different from commercial turkeys (most of which are Broad Breasted Whites) in the following ways:

1. Naturally mating - Unlike most commercial turkeys, which must be artificially inseminated due to their "genetic enhancements", Heritage Turkeys reproduce and are genetically maintained through natural mating.

2. Long productive outdoor lifespan - Heritage Turkeys must have the genetic ability to withstand the environmental rigors of outdoor life.

3. Slow growth rate - Heritage Turkeys have a slow to moderate rate of growth. Today’s heritage turkeys reach a marketable weight in about 28 weeks, which is twice as long as the 12-14 weeks for most commercial turkeys. This gives the birds time to develop a strong skeletal structure and healthy organs prior to building muscle mass.
